The Ameriforge Engineering Department at Industrial Road is in search of an entry level engineer that has the drive to expand their knowledge and experience as a Forging Engineer. This position is accountable for development, design, and evaluation of complex mechanical components and systems, and to make recommendations for design approaches necessary to meet production requirements for new or improved opportunities for Ameriforge.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes, develops, and recommends design approaches necessary to meet production requirements for new or improved products and/or processes for multiple facilities.
- Project management – successfully plan and lead new product introductions to achieve all contractual requirements including delivery targets.
- Set up and run FEA modeling and interpret and integrate results into efficient forging designs.
- APQP/Quality and PPAP support.
- Lead and support Continuous Improvement throughout the organization.
- Design products necessary to meet customer requirements for new or improved products and/or processes.
- Researches and identifies the applications, performance, and functional requirements to assure adequacy for the intended product in customer acceptable terms.
- Assists in the development of drawings, quotations, and tooling.
- Reviews and approves internal drawings and specifications.
- Follows company policies and procedures.
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment.
- Proactively participates in the Ameriforge Safety Program
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of CAD and FEA (Deform preferable) computer system software.
- Knowledge of multiple forging methods, theories, and practices.
- Knowledge of die design.
- Knowledge of GD & T and drafting techniques used in machining processes.
- Knowledge of Theory of Constraints (ToC) concepts and methodology
- Understanding and ability to operate computer aided design equipment.
- Able to research and identify applications, performance, and functional requirements to assure adequacy of function and produces product documentation required for tooling production and quotations.
- Excellent math skills to interpret and understand analytical formulations.
- Excellent project planning and project management skills.
- Ability to communicate and interact positively with all levels of management and personnel throughout the organization.
- Must be able to work independently and/or in a team environment.
- Team oriented and the ability to operate with a diverse group
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
- 1 year experience in mechanical design
- Experience with Lean Tools including Kaizen, Structured Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping, preferred
Physical & Safety Requirements
- Standing, bending, sitting, lifting up to 30#, squatting and walking for 8 to 10 hours per day.
- Exposure to Production Environment on a daily basis.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment when in designated areas

This position contributes to the company’s success by performing accurate and efficient complex maintenance and installation of all phases of mechanical equipment, serves as a quality control point for the work of less senior maintenance mechanics and ensures all work is performed in a safe manner.
Responsibilities
- Perform PM service on Forklifts and other motorized equipment
- Perform breakdown repairs on Forklifts and motorized equipment
- Examines equipment to diagnose problems
- Disassemble machinery and repairs or replaces broken parts
- Dismantle, test and analyze malfunctioning equipment, hand tools and power tool and tests apparatus to locate defects
- Clean and lubricate parts
- Provide advice, guidance and training to less senior maintenance mechanics
- Inspect the work of others
- May operate forklift as needed
- Follow company policies and procedures
- Support and/or participate in the organization’s Continuous Improvement Programs
- Proactively participates in the Ameriforge Safety Program
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
